Dianne Devaux, B.Mus. A.R.C.T, Director
Director and founder of the Oakville Children’s Music Theatre received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto. She has studied Dalcroze with Madeline Boss Lasserre. She has performed in a film, stage and cabaret productions. With over twenty years experience teaching music and drama in Public and Private Schools Dianne has realized her dream to provide a theatre arts program dedicated exclusively to music theatre for children in the Oakville area. In the fall of 2010 Dianne was honoured to be recognized by the Government of Canada for her contribution to children’s arts education in Oakville. Dianne is personally involved in all classes.
Heather Lord, Assistant Director/Choreographer
This is heather’s 17th year with Oakville Children’s Musical Theatre. Heather has studied Musical Theatre for many years. She is trained formally in dance technique and choreography including jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical and musical theatre. She has been in productions of Annie and The Wizard of Oz taking lead roles as Miss Hannifin and The Wicked Witch and has performed vocally on a competitive level in classical and musical theatre presentations. Heather has been involved with a variety of teaching experiences in dance, drama and musical theatre. She is currently a Registered Early Childhood Educator with The Halton District School Board. She has had other wonderful opportunities to work with children 15 months to 14 years of age in a variety of programs. She truly loves to explore the joy of Musical Theatre to our classes. Her bubbly personality and natural energy is an asset to our students and staff.
Edward Cockerton, Music Director
Pianist Edward Cockerton is a music director and accompanist for musical theatre in primary and secondary schools. His credits include: “Seussical”, “Aladdin”, “The Jungle Book”, “Shrek Jr.”, “The Lion King”, and “The Aristocats”. Edward graduated from Red Deer College in Alberta with a Diploma of Music in Voice and Piano and completed the Musicians’ Mentorship Program for Ballet Accompaniment at Canada’s National Ballet School. Edward’s versatility as a pianist has led him to work in ballet classes, kindergarten classrooms, jazz clubs, and community choirs in Montreal, Toronto, Red Deer and Winnipeg.
Daniela Lipovetzky B.A., Drama/Vocal Teacher
Daniela has always had a passion for the arts and has been actively involved in dramatic productions since high school. She has experiences as a performer, stage manager, lighting crew member, among other production roles within theatre. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Theatre Studies at the University of Guelph and has recently completed her Bachelor of Education at OISE (University of Toronto) to teach intermediate/senior level Dramatic Arts and English. Daniela has always loved working with children, sharing her love for theatre and helping them discover and develop their own artistic abilities. She is extremely excited to combine both her passion for theatre and desire to educate at OCMT.
