Dianne Devaux, B.Mus. A.R.C.T, Director
Director and founder of the Oakville Children’s Music Theatre received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto. She has studied Dalcroze with Madeline Boss Lasserre. She has performed in a film, stage and cabaret productions. With over twenty years experience teaching music and drama in Public and Private Schools Dianne has realized her dream to provide a theatre arts program dedicated exclusively to music theatre for children in the Oakville area. In the fall of 2010 Dianne was honoured to be recognized by the Government of Canada for her contribution to children’s arts education in Oakville. Dianne is personally involved in all classes.
Heather Lord, Assistant Director/Choreographer
This is heather’s 17th year with Oakville Children’s Musical Theatre. Heather has studied Musical Theatre for many years. She is trained formally in dance technique and choreography including jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical and musical theatre. She has been in productions of Annie and The Wizard of Oz taking lead roles as Miss Hannifin and The Wicked Witch and has performed vocally on a competitive level in classical and musical theatre presentations. Heather has been involved with a variety of teaching experiences in dance, drama and musical theatre. She is currently a Registered Early Childhood Educator with The Halton District School Board. She has had other wonderful opportunities to work with children 15 months to 14 years of age in a variety of programs. She truly loves to explore the joy of Musical Theatre to our classes. Her bubbly personality and natural energy is an asset to our students and staff.
Vasilisa Atanackovic is a dancer, singer, and actor
Vasilisa Atanackovic is a dancer, singer, and actor from Toronto, Canada. She began performing at the age of 6 at the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts where she later graduated with a diploma in Vaganova Technique Classical Ballet under the teaching styles of Vitek Wincza and former Bolshoi Ballet prima ballerina, Olga Krymchanska. She then went on to train at Ryerson University’s prestigious Performance Acting program, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and award for ‘Best Actress.’ Vasilisa has performed around the world, including Canada, Europe, and The United States. As an actor, she has performed in many productions, from the works of Shakespeare (Romeo & Juliet, Richard III, Macbeth, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, Othello, A Midsummer Night’s Dream) to hit Musicals (The Addams Family, Cinderella, Hairspray, The Wiz, Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, Annie, Ragtime, Cabaret).
She has worked with some of Canada’s leading stage directors such as Peggy Shannon, Judith Thompson, Soheil Parsa, Ian Watson, Perry Schneiderman and Sheldon Rosen. Coached by Polish Soprano Marta Greda-Kicek, Vasilisa is a classically trained dramatic soprano. She portrayed Helen of Troy at the LA Opera with conductor and composer Nathan Wang, she has sung the lead role in Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” and in Puccini’s “Suor Angelica” in Sicily, Berlin, Canada, and the United States. Vasilisa is a well respected teacher and arts educator in the school board, as well as many arts institutions and academies throughout the GTA. She has taught and worked with children of all ages around the world and directed many musicals, most recently the “Wizard of OZ” with Liberty Junction children’s theatre in Mississauga.
